This is an unpaid volunteer role for the position of Director of Research (Sustainable Finance) at the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), a global volunteer-led think tank advocating blockchain technology in combating climate change. The role is home-based and full-time, focusing on independent research, strategic partnerships, mentoring research officers, publishing research, and producing briefing materials for presentations at conferences. The Director will drive sustainable finance policy agendas globally, lead Research Division I, and report to the Director-General and advisory board. Responsibilities include strategic planning, project management combining sustainable finance and data technologies, research support coordination for various councils, producing high-quality quantitative and qualitative research, generating strategic partnerships, and promoting BCI’s work at conferences. The role requires expertise in sustainable finance standards and frameworks like TCFD, financial sector knowledge, leadership in technology projects including AI, IoT, and distributed ledger technology, and the ability to produce interdisciplinary research outputs that merge blockchain with green finance initiatives. The candidate should possess excellent communication, organizational, presentation skills, and proficiency in English and Microsoft Office. Additional language skills in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish are desirable. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic planning across the Research Division focusing on sustainable finance and data technologies. - Manage administration and personnel within the Division. - Report progress to senior management and advisory boards. - Coordinate research support for fellows' councils on topics like renewable energy, carbon trading, and biodiversity. - Conduct primary and secondary research, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, and publish high-quality outputs. - Develop strategic partnerships with assistance from Strategy Officers. - Represent BCI at conferences and events to communicate findings and engage stakeholders.
