The Technical Operations Engineer for Solana will maintain and optimize validators, RPC, and indexing infrastructure at scale. Responsibilities include hardware tuning, software optimization using Go and Python, incident leadership, key and latency management, and occasionally contributing patches upstream. The position emphasizes high reliability and performance of Solana blockchain nodes and services. - Operate and maintain Solana validators and high-throughput RPC services with a focus on uptime and performance. - Tune hardware and system settings including BIOS, kernel, and NIC configurations to optimize blockchain node performance. - Manage Agave/Jito software including builds, configurations, snapshots, ledger repairs, and upgrades. - Build and maintain small tools and scripts in Go, Python, and Bash for automation and monitoring. - Lead incident response and root cause analysis (SEV0-2 incidents) with quick isolation and remediation. - Collaborate with the Solana ecosystem to troubleshoot issues and contribute fixes upstream. - Automate infrastructure deployments using Terraform and Ansible to maintain reproducibility and scalability. - Monitor observability metrics (SLOs, error budgets, latency, backlogs) and fine-tune alerts to reduce noise. - Manage key safety including KMS/HSM/Vault, authority rotations, secure backups, and disaster recovery testing.
